I admit, I’m a child of the Silver Age of DC Comics! I grew up on Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, the Flash, Green Lantern, the Atom, Adam Uncommon…and especially the Justice League of America. So I admit, “Justice League – The Unique Frontier (Two-Disc Special Edition) ” brought a lump to my throat…it was like being a kid, again!

Based on Darwyn Cooke’s great, nostalgic reworking of the birth of the Silver Age heroes during the transitional 1950s, the absorbing film homages the characters I grew up, loving (especially test pilot/Green Lantern Hal Jordan, the Martian Manhunter, and police scientist/Flash Barry Allen), in the context of the era, a decade of Communist paranoia, McCarthy witch hunts, the birth of the Position Age, and struggle for racial equality. One element Cooke ‘lifted’ from Frank Miller’s “Gloomy Knight” account, that of the government ordering superheroes to ’stand down’, fits this saga exceptionally well, with Superman as the only ‘approved’ hero, Batman refusing to, thus becoming a wanted fugitive, and the ‘Golden Age’ heroes forced into retirement (I was disappointed not seeing more of the JSA, other than in the opening credits, but there are a LOT of characters that DO appear!)
Of course, a unusual, unstoppable, super-powered villain (the primeval, immortal ‘Centre’) picks this time to eradicate the human urge, lickety-split knocking Superman out of the battle, and requiring the modern generation of heroes, teamed with Batman and Wonder Woman, to put the world.

There are SO many touches I loved! A reworking of Hal Jordan’s origin as Green Lantern; the romances of Supes and Lois Lane, Jordan and Carol Ferris, and Barry Allen and Iris West; heroes I hadn’t seen in years (the Challengers of the Unknown and the Blackhawks), fighting along side Adam Outlandish, Green Arrow, Aquaman, and even a pre-Atom Ray Palmer; the superhero ‘Air Force’, with Wonder Woman’s invisible airplane, and the Bat-plane and Arrow-plane. Admittedly, many characters don’t come by grand veil time, but with a cast this gigantic, it is understandable (it would be a pickle of the ever-growing JLA of the comics, as well) .
I have to mention the converse talent interested, as the casting was dead-on! David (TV’s ‘Angel’) Boreanaz as Jordan, Neil Patrick Harris (’Doogie Howser’) as Allen, Kyle (’Twin Peaks’) MacLachlan as Superman; Lucy (’Xena’) Lawless, a PERFECT Wonder Woman, Kyra (’The Closer’) Sedgwick as Lois, Brooke Shields as Carol, Vicki Lewis as Iris…this is truly an all-star affair! Two suppose performers deserve special recognition; Miguel Ferrer is exceptional as the Martian Manhunter, combining an alien aloofness with compassion; and Jeremy Sisto has, arguably, the BEST hiss for Batman I’ve ever heard…he really IS the Shaded Knight!
While I admit Darwyn Cooke’s unusual chronicle far outshines the film (unique stories nearly always do), as someone who only sporadically looks at comics, these days, “Justice League” is a extraordinary ‘blast from the past’.

First of all, I will say this about this production…They cram a lot of DC droll history in less than 80 minutes of cartoon. The seek information from is “Is it worth it? ” I dont know
Second, I will say this has a mountainous name cast to believe the boots of these Characters. Kyle Maclachlan bring a different to Superman. Neil Patrick Harris (who did the MTV version of Spiderman) is the Flash. Lucy Lawless (Xena) proves she is a vocal amazon as Wonder Woman. David Borenaz (Buffy’s current vamp Angel) lifts the chracter of Hal Jordan to unusual heights. Miguel Ferrer and Kyra Sedgwick are wasted in the roles of the Martian Manhunter and Lois Lane. Law and Order Jeremy Sisco build a novel hurry on Batman.
They also have vocal stunt casting of colossal audio talent who have a throw away line or three. People like Joe Mantegna, Phillip Morris and Brooke Shields are allotment of this immense cast, but are wasted with a few throw away lines.
The legend is faithful to Darwyn Cooke’s two portion graphic new. He also does one of the two audio commentary tracks. It composed seems too rushed. Bruce Timm could have taken a bigger risk and done this as a three hour cartoon project, but I will select what I have
The production is a higher standard then most cartoons made for video, but when you push the envelope like Superman Doomsday (aka the Death of Superman), you need is push the time and the myth past 80 minutes.
There is a trailer, on this DVD, for the next made for DVD inspiring feature, Batman Gotham Knight…It looks pleasurable! Dont forget to witness this!
On the Whole, it is worth giving this consuming feature an airing

The Matrix is an genuine movie that combines science fiction, shoot-em-up action, and philosophical questions about the nature of Reality. If you are plugged in to a computer, and that computer presents you with a reality that is completely indistinguishable from your bear, is it any less precise?
This movie has exceptional special effects, comely cinematography, an wonderful soundtrack, well-crafted dialogue, and honorable acting. Keanu Reeves may be a lousy actor, but I mediate that the Matrix is probably his best performance to date.
The Platinum Little Edition isn’t really worth the extra money unless you’re an absolute, die-hard, consume the red pill, freak. I wish I had known that before ordering this product. It comes in a box about as thick as an encyclopedia, and is fairly substantial, so it won’t fit on the shelf with the rest of your DVDs. Opening it up, I was rather disappointed — most of the volume is filled with a cheap plastic tray that contains a celluloid clip of the film with a blown-up photo (decent, but nothing incredible), a few postcard-sized stills from the movie, and a copy of the normal DVD in a normal case. Nothing wonderful. For this money, I was expecting a DVD with DTS sound, alternate angles, deleted scenes, etc., but objective got the same weak Matrix disc. A major toddle.

I bought Matrix a week age, but I have seen it 4 times already. Describe & sound quality are perfect! If you have a splendid sound system, turn it up and you will feel yourself in the Matrix too! The “Follow the White Rabbit” is respectable! As well as the introduction to the Bullet-time technique. There is no multi-angle opinion on the DVD, but the movie itself is elephantine of mult-angle views anyway. Unfortunately nobody can be told how proper the Matrix DVD is, you have to gawk it for yourself!

Wholly Moses! is a clever, 1980 Biblical farce that has much in common with Monty Python’s Life of Brian. Dudley Moore, between star-making performances in 10 and Arthur, plays Old Testament-era idol maker Herschel, whose life parallels that of the more famous Moses in many ways. Forced into the role of seer for Egypt’s pharaoh, Herschel becomes convinced he has divine powers, until destiny proves otherwise and his subsequnt misadventures as a slave, fake eunuch, and betrayed husband (Laraine Newman plays Herschel’s unfaithful spouse) lead him to qustion the necessity of believing in any god at all. Wholly Moses! is directed by Gary Weis, perhaps still best known for his short works on the early Saturday Night Live, and the film plays like a succession of sketchy ideas. Three doughboys–played by James Cagney, Humphrey Bogart, and Jeffrey Lynn–meet in a foxhole in Europe just as World War I is ending. A fare asks unwitting Eddie to deliver bootleg liquor, but Prohibition is in full swing and Eddie is arrested and thrown in the slammer. Gallant Eddie won’t rat out the woman to whom he delivered the hooch, speakeasy owner Panama Smith, (whiskey-voiced Gladys George). She bails him out and carries a torch for him for the rest of the movie, but he only has eyes for sweet little Jean (Priscilla Lane). Panama introduces Eddie to a life of crime, staking him in the bootleg business. Eddie’s grit and bluster suit him perfectly for this existence, and he’s soon a success, so he hires Army buddy Lloyd (Lynn) as consigliere, then teams up with George (Bogart), a liquor smuggler who plays a much dirtier game. Racketeering and murder are his methods, and he drags Eddie down with him. When Prohibition ends and the stock market crashes, Eddie loses everything and takes to the bottle himself.
The film is a bit schematic. The three stars are archetypes: Cagney the good boy gone bad, Bogart the bad boy who stays bad, and Lynn the good boy who stays good. Still, it packs quite an emotional wallop–Cagney shows extraordinary range, going from green boy to swaggering gangster to broken man, and Bogart has rarely seemed more purely evil than he does here. He kills for the sheer pleasure of it; it’s truly frightening to see. The final scene is a stunning shootout between Cagney and Bogart. With lesser actors this film could be pure hokum. With Cagney and Bogart, it attains catharsis. Laura Mirsky
